LG G4 811 (T-Mobile): Install Xposed, XPrivacy and AFWall+
26. März 2017 - Computer Science
In the last part of my series, we will install Xposed, XPrivacy and AFWall+, to create at least an expectable minimum of security and privacy on your LG G4.
Let’s start with the important part: It is your phone, you are responsible for everything you do with it. Don’t blame me if you make it worst trying to follow any of my articles. You do everything at your own risk. All data will be lost. Don’t forget to take a backup if you need anything.
Make sure that you read LG G4 811 (T-Mobile): Unbrick or factory reset with stock ROM and have everything prepared in case something goes wrong.
The steps below worked for me and my set up. Although it it pretty likely that the guide will work on other devices without changes, I can take no guarantee.
Preparation
Make sure you have root access and TWRP installed. See LG G4 811 (T-Mobile): Unlock bootloader, install TWRP and root with SuperSU.
If you don’t have flashed TWRP, you might want to check the Xposed installation via FlashFire. Many old guides link to inofficial build of Xposed, I think you should skip them.
XPosed
- download xposed*.zip (sdk23 for Marshmallow, tested with xposed-v87-sdk23-arm64.zip)
- download uninstaller
- download XposedInstaller_3.1.1.apk
- move all files do your LG G4
- boot into TWRP
- if you don’t get into recovery via VOLUME DOWN see LG G4 811 (T-Mobile): Unlock bootloader, install TWRP and root with SuperSU on how to boot via fastboot.
- flash the xposed*.zip and reboot
- the FlashFire approach seems to take 15-30min, nevertheless my phone started optimizing the apps after 1 minute and was booted after 8 minutes.
- install XposedInstaller_3.1.1.apk and check that everything is fine.
XPrivacy
- download XPrivacy (tested with 3.6.19)
- install the APK
- enable XPrivacy in Xposed
- work through all settings
- make sure you understand everything
- set useful defaults
- check the rights of already installed applications
AFWall+
- download AFWall+ (tested with 2.9.1 and 2.9.3)
- install the APK
- enable AFWall+ in Xposed
- work through all settings
- make sure you understand everything
- set useful defaults
- check the rights of already installed applications
